Collection of surreal pencil sketches

I've been working on so many things lately I didn't have the time to update this sketchblog. I refuse to give it up, though!
My recent sketchbook entries follow a surreal theme, and I've been drawing a hell of a lot trees recently.

Surreal pencil sketch - tangled hair

Surreal pencil sketch - boy with a bird hood

Surreal pencil sketch - Winter

Surreal pencil sketch - random creepy tree creature

All of these are drawn with pencil in a Canson sketchbook.

Art journal left brain vs. right brain

I'm doing visual journaling exercises from the book The Creative Entrepreneur, and here's one that looks decent enough to share.

Left brain right brain visual journal

Ink, color pencils and gouache in a Moleskine sketchbook.
I'm trying to get more free with this experimental journal thing, but I'm still too much of a perfectionist to be really successful at it. I'm looking forward to seeing how that might evolve in the future.

Demon and a sci-fi skull

As promised, here are some fantasy sketches I did last weekend.
I got a new hard drive and only have GIMP installed right now so the quality and compression on these last few posted images is worse than I'm used to. Sorry about that.

Demon ink and watercolor drawing

Pen and ink plus watercolor in a Canson sketchbook.
I haven't used pen and ink in a loooong time. Time to practice it some more.

Sketches from the vacation

Here are a few selected sketches from my recent vacation in my hometown.

Woman reading on the beach watercolor sketch

Pencil and watercolor in a small Moleskine watercolor notebook.

Palm tree ink and watercolor sketch

Brush pen and watercolor in a Canson sketchbook. The shadow is pretty terrible, I know.

Tomorrow, I'll post some fantasy sketches, yay!

Sketching in the natural history museum

This is a stripped-down repost from my official blog. I have a few more days worth of sketches to post, which I'll do in the following few days.

Anyway, I was sketching taxidermied animals from life in the natural history museum.
